Prior to founding the firm Al was president of IDC, a manufacturer of robotic controls for industrial automation. As president Al acquired a complementary company and assimilated it into IDC's operations. The company led a rollup and was eventually acquired by multi-national public company Danaher. Earlier, Al spent many years as a sales, marketing and business development executive, building worldwide distribution channels, marketing programs and strategic business relationships. Al’s industry experience includes consumer, manufacturing, technology, services, distribution, agriculture and recreation.


Al has an MBA from Golden Gate University and a BS in engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He is a licensed real estate broker and a certified machinery and equipment appraiser. He has earned the Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) designation from the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA). CBI’s have advanced training and the most current industry information; and have demonstrated good success as business intermediaries, high ethical standards, and affiliations with other intermediaries on national and international levels. Al is a regular speaker, author and educator on business sales and acquisitions.

Steven C. Keeler has been brokering sales of private Bay Area businesses for over 5 years and has been providing business consulting and bookkeeping services for more than 20 years. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Steve started a banking career with Crocker Anglo Bank. He later worked with Redwood National Bank in San Rafael, Sierra National Bank in Petaluma and Bank of the Orient in San Francisco. Steve's positions included loan officer, branch manager, area supervisor and comptroller, and he was involved with several bank start ups, mergers and acquisitions. Steve left banking in 1973 to purchase Diller's Delicatessen in San Rafael, which he grew from one location to five in Marin and San Francisco. Steve sold the chain in 1984. Another of Steve's entrepreneurial ventures was designing, starting and running the Car Care Center in Ignacio, which he sold in 1998. Steve's focuses on the sale of restaurants & food service businesses, gas stations & convenience stores, and all types of automotive service businesses & dealerships.

Before joining Sunbelt Business Advisors, Jim spent over 15 years in the telecommunications industry as a consultant and entrepreneur. He founded vorCOMM Communications, LLC, a consulting firm dedicated to managing and reducing worldwide IT expenses for Multi-national clients. Previously, Jim was founder & CEO of OptiMisers, Inc, a highly successful domestic telecommunications cost management firm which he profitably sold after 9 years of operation. Prior to that, he was a Partner with Putnam, Hayes & Bartlett, Inc., an international consulting firm providing economic and business counsel to a wide variety of clients. Earlier in his career, Jim worked in manufacturing including five years with complete profit and loss responsibility as Sr. VP and General Manager for a $20 million, 200 person division of International Paint. His former experience also includes executive level positions in marketing, business development, general management, technical product development, and extensive involvement in international operations. Jim holds a BES in Chemical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University and a Masters in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.

Don has an extensive retail business background and specializes in the sale of the full spectrum of retail businesses. Most recently, he has been engaged as a "CEO for Hire" for three retail business entities, focussing on forensic accounting, budget and market strategy formulation, and maximized profitability.

He has owned and operated retail businesses including two farm and industrial equiipment dealerships, a chain of retail stationery and gift stores, and a Direct Marketing Catalogue Company. Don is a past Regional Marketing and Sales Director of the Legal Publishing divison of McGraw-Hill Company, and a past marketing consultant to the 1996 Atlanta Olympics Venue Management Group.

Don graduated from Stanford University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in History. Don is 60, married with three adult children, and two grandchildren. He lives in West Marin with his wife, Michele, and Standard French Poodle, Hank.
